Xbox Insider Release Notes – Alpha (2302.230104-2200)

Hello Xbox Insiders! We have a new Xbox Update Preview coming to the Alpha ring. It is important that we note that some updates made in these preview OS builds include background improvements that ensure a quality and stable build for Xbox consoles.

We continue to post these release notes, even when the noticeable UI changes are minimal, so you’re aware of when updates are coming to your device. Details can be found below!

New features and experiences

We have exciting news! Alpha users can expect something new to come to the Xbox Update Preview.

Parties and Chats – Recent Parties

We now offer a two-click way to jump back to a recent party! You can now view a list of your recent parties, select one and edit the list, send invitations to selected users, and restart a party. You can also invite users from recent parties to the current group you’re in.

A random subset of users will find “Recent Parties” under the “Start a Party” button on the “Parties & Chats” tab. For others, click the “Parties” button on the “Parties and Chats” tab, then start a party or select from a list of recent parties on the new page.

Repairs implemented

Thanks to the hard work of Xbox engineers, we’re happy to announce that the following fixes have been implemented for this release:

Game

  • Fixed an issue where steering feedback could stop working unexpectedly.

Home

  • Fixed an issue where the “Settings” tooltip remained visible after navigating away.

System

  • Various updates to reflect local languages ​​across console.
    • Note: Users participating in the preview may see “strange” text across the console, for more information go here.

known problems

We understand that some issues are listed in previous Xbox Insider release notes. These items are not being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution.

Sound

  • We have received reports of users experiencing intermittent audio issues across the dashboard, games and apps.
    • Note: If you experience problems with audio, please send feedback via Report a problem immediately with the “Reproduce with Advanced Diagnostics” option and include the following:
      • When did the problem start? After a console update, reboot, resume, etc.
      • Have you lost the sound only in the game/app or the system sound too?
      • Does changing the audio format solve the problem? If so, what was the format before and after?
      • Does rebooting fix the problem?
      • What does your setup look like? Equipment, layout, etc.
      • And any additional information you can provide to reproduce the problem.

Control

  • We have received some reports of users’ controllers randomly losing sync or disconnecting from the console. If you encounter this behavior, be sure to report this issue after reconnecting.

HDMI-CEC

  • We have received some reports of HDMI-CEC not working properly.
    • Note: Make sure your TV supports HDMI-CEC and is also enabled before sending feedback.

My games and apps

  • Titles in the collection may incorrectly appear with a “trial” tag.

TV screen

  • Some users have reported that the console appears at the wrong resolution on startup. We are aware and investigating.
    • Note: If you encounter this behavior, make sure you send feedback via Report a problem immediately. Please include the make/model of the TV/screen in the description.
    • Solution: Restarting the console via the Power menu (Holding the Xbox button displays the power menu) should resolve the issue. If not, make sure you look at the troubleshooting here, especially the section on making sure your TV firmware is up to date.

Make sure to use Report a problem to keep us informed about your issue. We may not be able to answer all of them, but the data we collect is crucial to finding a solution.
