The Republic depends on us recapturing the hearts of the children

The future of the republic depends on those willing to recapture the hearts and minds of children, actor, director and author Kirk Cameron said during an interview Monday on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with presenter Alex Marlow.

“I think parents realize the most sacred job in the world and the most powerful force for good belongs to — wait for it — parents,” Cameron explained:

That is why God gives children to mothers and fathers, not the authorities. Whoever succeeds in telling the children the stories gets to control the future. Dictators know it, patriots know it, freedom-loving people understand it. And we cannot outsource parenting to public libraries and public schools. That’s why I’m doing this. That’s why I’m hitting the road and I’m joining with grandparents, with parents, with patriots, with concerned Americans, to prayerfully and purposefully reclaim the hearts and minds of our children. The Republic depends on it.

His comments come after a massive crowd packed the Indianapolis Public Library’s main branch on Dec. 29 to hear him read his newly released children’s book, As you growreported Breitbart News.

“The library organization initially denied Cameron the opportunity to read the book in its history class, but later caved and allowed the incident to happen,” Breitbart News reported, adding that Cameron has criticized libraries that prevented him from reading his book in public, but offered ” drag queen story hours” for children.

As you grow, teaches young readers about love, joy and gentleness, according to the BRAVE Books website.

Asked what drove him to use different forms of media to promote positive values about America and his faith, Cameron said, “I have good parents, I have a Bible and a newspaper, and a little bit of history tells me that if good people don’t commit to doing the right thing in the long term, we lose.”

“History is full of examples of that, and what we have in America is rare and precious, it’s called freedom. It is called freedom and that is what I will fight for for my children, he added.

“If we do not want to have blood on our hands and be filled with guilty consciences in our sunset years, we must do everything we can to plant the seeds of freedom, faith and morality, so that our children can have a bright and hopeful future. It is why I’m doing this,” Cameron concluded.
