“Mayfair Witches” is a new show based on the books by author Anne Rice. New episodes air on AMC every Sunday starting January 8, and you can stream episodes early every Thursday through AMC Plus.

The show follows Rowan Fielding, a neurosurgeon who discovers she has magical powers and is descended from a coven of witches. As she learns more about her family, she must face a dark presence that has haunted them for generations.

Alexandra Daddario (“The White Lotus”) stars as Fielding. She is joined by Jack Huston (“The Irishman”), Tongayi Chirisa (“Next Exit”), Harry Hamlin (“Clash of the Titans”), Beth Grant (“Lucky”) and Annabeth Gish (“Mystic Pizza”).

Season one of Mayfair Witches is based on the first book in the Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy, The Witching Hour. The show is created by Esta Spalding and Michelle Asford (“Masters of Sex”), who also serve as executive producers.

How to watch “Mayfair Witches”

You can watch “Mayfair Witches” every Sunday until February 26 at 9pm ET/PT on AMC. You can also stream new episodes a few days early every Thursday on AMC Plus.

An AMC Plus subscription costs $9 a month, but you can save $24 a year if you sign up for an annual plan. AMC Plus is also available as an add-on channel to other streaming apps, such as Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV. It also costs $9 a month to add the service to these platforms.

If you want to stream the show as it airs on the AMC cable channel, you can watch “Mayfair Witches” through any live TV streaming service that carries the channel, including Philo, Sling TV, YouTube TV and FuboTV.

Full channel setups vary and typical starting prices range from $25 to $70 a month. Philo is the cheapest of the bunch at $25 a month for access to AMC and about 60 total channels.

Can I watch Mayfair Witches for free?

You can watch “Mayfair Witches” for free if you sign up for an AMC Plus trial. AMC Plus is currently offering new subscribers a week of streaming for free.

To watch the entire first season for free, you should wait to sign up until February 23rd, which is when the season finale is expected to start streaming.

How many episodes will “Mayfair Witches” season one have?

Season one of “Mayfair Witches” includes eight episodes. Each episode is about an hour long. New episodes premiere on Sundays at 9:00 PM ET/PT on the AMC cable channel through February 26.

As of January 6, “Mayfair Witches” has a “55%” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics praise Alexandra Daddario’s performance as Rowan Fielding, but feel that some of the series’ character development is lacking and that the pace is a little too slow.

Still, fans of the source material, supernatural stories and “Interview with the Vampire” will likely give the new series a shot.
