Jay Leno joked about his recent motorcycle accident at the expense of actor Jeremy Renner, prompting mixed reactions from fans online.
“I was riding my motorcycle up in Lake Tahoe and I came around the corner and bam, I crashed into Jeremy Renner’s snowplow,” Leno tweeted Friday.

Leno shared the tweet, just 10 days after he broke his collarbone, two ribs and two kneecaps in a motorcycle accident. The 72-year-old’s latest injuries come two months after he suffered burns in a garage fire in November 2022.
Renner, 52, was hospitalized Jan. 1 for a “traumatic injury” in January with a snow plow. CBS News reported Thursday that Renner was trying to rescue his nephew from the vehicle when he was run over.
While some fans applauded Leno for the joke — with one person calls him “the funniest” – others suggested the tweet was insensitive.
“How funny,” one person wrote.
Another added: “Not funny. Renner broke 30 bones saving his nephew’s life. Respect to the guy. Pure guts.”
Representatives for Leno and Renner did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

TMZ reported in November 2022 that Leno received treatment from a burn center after sustaining injuries in a car fire in a Los Angeles garage where he stores his collection of cars. One of the cars caught fire while Leno was in the garage, the outlet reported.
“I suffered some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I’m OK,” Leno said in a statement to Insider. “Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”
In January, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Renner was taken to a local hospital after the incident. TMZ reported that a snow plow ran over one of Renner’s legs.
“As of now, we can confirm that Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries sustained after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today,” Renner’s publicist told KABC, a local news outlet in Los Angeles, California.
Renner revealed in an Instagram post on January 21 that he broke 30 bones in his body during the incident.
“These 30 plus broken bones will mend, grow stronger, just as the love and bond with family and friends deepens,” Renner wrote in the caption.
