George Santos appears to admit drag queen passing in the old Wikipedia profile, the report said

An old Wikipedia page allegedly showed that a user named Anthony Devolder — who may be an alias of George Santos — began his “stage life” as a drag queen using a pseudonym, according to a report.

Santos, who represents New York’s 3rd District, strongly refuted reports Thursday that he performed in drag competitions under the name “Kitara” while living in Brazil more than a decade ago.

“The latest obsession by the media claiming that I am a drag queen or ‘acted’ like a drag queen is categorically false,” he wrote on Twitter.

“The media continues to make outrageous claims about my life as I work to deliver results. I will not be distracted or fascinated by this,” he wrote.

However, a Wikipedia page accessed by Politico News more than a decade ago showed a user named Anthony Devolder saying he participated in drag shows in Brazil as a teenager.

Politico reported that the site, which is currently blocked, said: “Anthony Devolder started [sp] his “stage life” at the age of 17 as a gay nightclub [sp] DRAG QUEEN and with that sevral won [sp] GAY ‘BEAUTY PAGES [sp]”.

It stated that Devolder was born on July 22, 1988, to a Brazilian family of European background – information that matches Santos.

The Wikipedia page has several spelling errors and was last edited on April 29, 2011.

Santos, who has repeatedly used Anthony Devolder as his alias elsewhere, remains under fire for a series of alleged falsehoods about his background, which arose from a New York Times investigation which claimed he had fabricated a number of key details about his past.

He allegedly misrepresented his business career, educational achievements as well as the nature of his mother’s death. He acknowledged that he has misleading information about critical parts of his biography, but justified it by the fact that other politicians do the same.

Santos’ alias on Wikipedia claimed he appeared in the popular Disney Channel series “Hanna Montana” — which was also misspelled — and “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.”

Last week, an old video surfaced on social media where Santos was heard introducing himself as “Anthony Devolder”.

“My name is Anthony Devolder, I live in New York City,” Santos introduces himself, as seen in the video.

Santos was called on by several other Republicans to step down after Brazilian drag athlete Eula Rochard, 58, told the Reuters news agency that she had first met the person she now claims is Santos at the first gay pride parade held in the suburb of Niteroi . of Rio de Janeiro, in 2005.

She said she remembers seeing him compete in a drag beauty pageant in the same city three years later, much more flamboyantly dressed on the second occasion.

“He has changed a lot, but he has always been a liar,” Rochard told Reuters. “He’s always been such a dreamer.”

Santos is the first openly gay non-incumbent Republican elected to the House of Representatives, but has been criticized for his support of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law that bans discussion of LGBT+ issues in state school classrooms.

“I am openly gay, have never had a problem with my sexual identity in the last decade, and I can tell you and assure you that I will always be an advocate for LGBTQ people,” he said USA today in an interview last October.
