A recent survey from Blizzard contains questions related to Warcraft 3: Reforged, indicating that it is considering improving the flawed remaster.
Blizzard recently sent out a survey asking players Warcraft 3: Reforged, indicating that it may have more substantial plans for the flawed remaster. The questions seem to indicate that Blizzard is even planning a soft relaunch of Warcraft 3: Reforged.
A select group of fans on the Blizzard survey mailing list recently received a survey regarding Warcraft 3: Reforged. The questions in the survey were aimed at identifying what players like or dislike Warcraft 3: Reforgedand what they want to see changed in the future.
The survey also measures players’ interest in a number of new features in Warcraft 3: Reforged. Some of these were direct from Legacy Warcraft 3, such as ranked play, clans, and leaderboards, but others, such as an in-game art update, save size reduction, and improvements to the campaign, are new. One of the last questions even asks how appealing a “soft relaunch” of Warcraft 3: Reforged would have been.
This new survey from Blizzard is promising. After Warcraft 3: Reforged’s lukewarm reception, players demanded refunds and considered the game a flop. After over a year of silence, however, Blizzard suddenly began to give Warcraft 3: Reforged attention, with several new balance updates and updates since then.
Players are interested to see what this new research means for the future Warcraft 3: Reforged. Legacy Warcraft 3 played a major role in raising Warcraft to one of Blizzard’s biggest franchises and creators World of Warcraft’s decades of success. If Blizzard really goes back and re-releases Warcraft 3: Reforged with the changes the survey provides, there could be a great opportunity for both new and old players to experience the RTS game as a true remaster.
That said, players should temper their expectations Warcraft 3: Reforged for the time being. These surveys only show that Blizzard is gathering feedback – until a formal announcement is made, there’s no evidence that it’s actually planning a soft relaunch of Warcraft 3: Reforged. Still, it’s promising to see that Blizzard hasn’t forgotten about the remake attempt just yet.
Meanwhile, Warcraft 3 players can experience a remastered version of the remaster with Warcraft 3: Re-Reforged-a fan project developed by InsaneMonster. This huge project seeks to provide Warcraft 3: Reforged the new cutscenes, maps, lore and other features promised in the original announcement. InsaneMonster has already completed the prologue and Human campaigns. If Blizzard is to be relaunched Warcraft 3: Reforgedhopefully it will be before InsaneMonster completes the game first.
Warcraft 3: Reforged is now available on PC.
