2023 NFL playoff weather: Here’s the latest forecast for all four divisional round matchups

The NFL Divisional Round is almost here. There are eight teams left in the playoffs, and by the end of this weekend we’ll be down to just the final four, with just two games left to decide who will face off in the Super Bowl.

Throughout this week, you’ve probably read all about these games here on CBSSports.com. The players, the coaches, the injuries, the quotes, the strategy and more. There is, of course, another factor that can affect these games, and it’s one that is completely out of the teams’ control: the weather.

Below you will find details of what we should expect, weather-wise, in and around the area where each of the weekend’s four matches will be played.

Featured game | Kansas City Chiefs vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Where: GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium (Kansas City, Missouri)
  • When: Saturday, January 21, 4:30 PM ET
  • Estimated playing time temp: 38 degrees
  • Rainfall: 38% chance of rain

It’s going to be pretty cold for this one, with temperatures expected to drop below freezing at some point during the game. At that time, Weather.com expects a 44% chance of snow. However, rainfall amounts are expected to be fairly light (0.01 inches) — at least until later in the evening, after the game is over. Hopefully we can get a clean fight and get everyone safely back to their homes and/or hotel rooms before significant snow starts to fall.

Featured game | Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants

  • Where: Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia)
  • When: Saturday 21 January at 20.15 ET
  • Estimated playing time temp: 38 degrees
  • Rainfall: 4% chance of rain

It’s January in the Northeast, so it should come as no surprise that it’s expected to be pretty cold in the Philly area for the third game between these two division rivals. There is a very small chance of rain and very little wind, so apart from the temperature there are not too many weather problems here.

Featured game | Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals

  • Where: Highmark Stadium (Orchard Park, New York)
  • When: Sunday 22 January at 3 p.m. ET
  • Estimated playing time temp: 34 degrees
  • Rainfall: 70% chance of snow

Once again, very cold temperatures are expected for this matchup. However, there also appears to be a significant chance of snow when the game kicks off, with temperatures expected to drop below freezing sometime after kick-off. Similar to the Kansas City area, snow totals are expected to be fairly light, with Weather.com predicting an inch of snow near Orchard Park. Fortunately, the forecast calls for very little wind, so even if snow does fall, it shouldn’t affect the game too dramatically.

Featured game | San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Cowboys

  • Where: Levi’s Stadium (Santa Clara, California)
  • When: Sunday 22 January at 6:30 p.m. ET
  • Estimated playing time temp: 52 degrees
  • Rainfall: 3% chance of rain

This is the weekend’s best weather forecast. Temperatures in the mid to low 50s, with clear skies and very little chance of rain. The forecast calls for winds between 9 and 10 miles per hour, but that’s well below the speed that usually affects the game. We should get a good, clean fight here.
